What is The Pentecostal
Foreign Mission?
Already in 1910 - only three years after the arrival of the Pentecostal
movement to Norway - the first missionaries were on their way to India.
Today PYM has 280 missionaries whose work is based in 30 countries. It is
the third largest of its kind in Norway. The work carried out by the
missionaries is administered through The Pentecostal Foreign Mission of
Norway (PYM), but the local churches are responsible for the missionaries'
inauguration and dispatch. The local churches provide the financial, moral
and spiritual support to each missionary.
Annual Conferences
There are annual conferences for each continent, where the missionaries
and churches assemble and share viewpoints and experiences. Similar
conferences are also held on the mission field on each continent. There is
one committee for each continent and all the directors come together and
form the board of directors for The Pentecostal Foreign Mission of Norway.
These committees represent the churches in Norway. Their task is to
preserve the churches interests. The Pentecostal Foreign Mission of Norway
has a secretariat in Oslo which is lead by a General Secretary. This
office administers at the same time funds from NORAD (Norwegian Agency for
Development Cooperation). The common tasks in the mission are: The
Mission's Fund, PYM's Children Aid, PYM's Literature Fund, PYM-Aid. The
mission runs schools, child-centers, media-work, bible schools, bible
spreading and deacon work. The mission has an evangelical and social
profile.
